Beacon Images

Barry Hill is a talented photographer living in Brecon. Living so close to the Beacons allows him to capture pictures of the stunning local landscape all year round in varying seasons and weather.

Barry's work is created using solely digital equipment and he often takes infa-red or monochrome images to change or enhance the mood of a picture.

As well as taking advantage of the beautiful Welsh countryside, Barry also takes in a variety of sporting events and has a passion for underground photography. He has produced several books of his photos and has also written a walker's guide to aircraft crash sites in the Brecon Beacons.

Dave Newbould

Despite having no photographic training and, in his own words, very little technical knowledge, Dave Newbould's eye for a spectacular picture has seen him become a successful photographer.

He has lived in Snowdonia for over 25 years now and his love for the area, added to a keen interest in mountaineering, has led to him capturing images from all over the stunning national park and beyond.

Dave's work is published in the form of wrapping paper, calendars, cards, posters and prints.

Frank Busch

Based in Powys, Frank Busch works both nationally and internationally as a large animal vet but also as a wedding, lifestyle and street photographer.

It was the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 that first prompted Frank's interest in photography as he captured images of East German citizens demolishing parts of the wall near Brandenburg Gate as they attempted to liberate themselves.

Frank has a love of the Welsh countryside and the nation's rich heritage and culture and spends much of his time taking pictures of the land, people and wildlife he comes across.

Hazel Gwatkin

Hazel is a freelance photographer who lives on the border between Wales and England.

Her work has been shown regularly in exhibitions across both countries, and has even had a piece chosen for display on the London Underground.

Hazel is a keen walker and always takes her camera with her on her travels through the countryside, but she also works as an wedding photographer as well as covering several motorsport events in recent years.

Sgwd Ayr EiraIan Nicholson studied photography at Nuneaton Art College in 1982 as part of his Art foundation course and quickly developed a passion for it. He started running his own darkroom in 1989 while still working as a freelance computer programmer, occasionally selling images and undertaking one-off assignments.

Being involved with computers also allowed him to develop his second passion, digital photographic editing, although he prefers to get as much out of the camera as possible - using filters, for instance.

Ian set up Builth Wells Photography in 2003, providing a range of services including courses, portraiture, commercial and event photography.

He is one of Erwood Station Craft Centre's most popular artists and several of his images can now be purchased online here.

Jeremy Moore

Jeremy graduated from the University of Nottingham in 1975 and decided to embark on a career in conservation and wildlife. Two years later he moved to Wales and started to take pictures wherever he went, selling his first image in 1981.

In 1986 his first solo exhibition opened in Aberystywth and he decided to produce a few postcards to tie in with the display, something that led to him creating his Wild Wales (Cymru Wyllt) postcard business. He eventually found a reliable printer and the sales had grown enough to become a fully professional photographer by the early 1990s.

Jeremy has also produced his images in several books, the latest being 'Wales at Water's Edge", released in May last year. Recently his spectacular image showing Starlings at sunset in Aberystwyth was highly commended by the British Wildlife Photography Awards.

Maguel Ahliksander

A fine art photographer, Maguel Ahliksander currently lives near the Black Mountains in Mid Wales having spent much of his life in Africa.

Maguel has a fascination with the nature of perception and enjoys making use of reflections and the changes in light and shadow for his images, and the results of that approach are quite often spectacular. Despite the vivid and sometimes abstract results, Miguel doesn't use digital editing software in his work.

Nick Jenkins - Freespirit Images

A keen landscape and outdoor photographer, Nick Jenkins left corporate life behind and set up his freelance photography business 'Freespirit Images' in 2002.

Nick is an associate of the Royal Photographic Society and of the Welsh Photographic Federation and gives talks and presentations to clubs and societies across Britain, also running courses and workshops to teach others about his work.

He has more recently branched out into commercial photography and his previous clients include Cardiff City Council and the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Robert Jones

Robert was born and brought up in Rhymney in South Wales and became interested in photography whilst at school there.

Despite considering it as a full-time profession, he instead gained a degree in Zoology before embarking on a career in advertising and marketing for several major London agencies.

His passion has always been for landscape photography though and his interest in the outdoors - and in walking, biking and kayaking - has taken him to many idyllic places across the world.

Rober enjoys producing images in black and white and the challenge that limiting the colour creates for the photographer, and aside from his landscape images he likes to capture scenes that include boats or birds.

Ruth Hargest

After studying and teaching geography, Ruth's passion for the Mid Wales countryside led to her becoming a painter and photographer.

The beauty of the area has inspired her since childhood and she can often be found walking the hills and valleys in search for the right scene to capture her imagination. Ruth looks for the lighting and mood in her images and enjoys the variation that can be found through each season.

Semaphore Photography

John Rux-Burton first discovered his love of photography at a boarding school while growing up in Essex. Despite leaving school at 15 he later studied at Oxford University, having taken his A-Levels through evening classes. After university he set up a fundraising consultancy that now has offices in the UK, Australia and Hong Kong.

His work has exposed him to global travel and afforded him plenty of opportunities to develop his passion for photography across the world. He specialises in street photography and urban landscapes, although he also enjoys taking pictures in more rural settings.

John's images are exhibited all over Britain and has even had his work displayed at the VII International Photography Exhibition at National Park Fruska Gora in Serbia. In 2011 he had 'From the Marches to the Sea - a photographic journey' published by Logaston Press.
