Jenny Hare

My paintings and poems are inspired by my love for the wild hills and forests here, and animals of all sorts, especially the native Welsh Mountain ponies. I also love painting the Gower, Pembroke and Dorset coastlines where the sea, sands and sunsets sing to my soul.

I’m interested in the way words and pictures complement each other and many of my paintings have inspired poems or prose and I’m very happy to share this with anyone who is interested in a particular painting

Colour is hugely important to me and though I don’t like labels I’m probably best described as a colourist and abstract impressionist. I find colour healing and it sings to me and makes me happy and peaceful!

My work tends to naturally flow in two seams – gentle impressions of horses and other animals with their character shining through, and bright colourful impressions and abstracts of the landscapes around me.

I’m much enjoying the big canvases I’ve been working on recently  - the paint seems to have a mind of its own with so much space to flow over – it’s very exciting and great fun and I hope this comes across in each finished painting and the series as a whole.
